Lens would you use most often and would you consider a 70-200 2.8 a good option??

I use that lens without a flash usually, I doubt i'd change lenses.

85mm 1.8 - and I wouldn't use a flash at a basketball game because they are annoying as can get. I coach out here and wanted to kill our schools photographer with that darn thing popping for four quarters straight, players and parents complained a lot.

You just hang them in the ceiling and put radio triggers on them. Then they're hardly noticeable and your image quality goes way up. The downside is that it's terribly expensive.
But 24-70 2.8, 70-200 2.8 and 300 2.8 are what professionals generally use to shoot strobed and brightly lit arena basketball. (in my experience any way... )
