Hello Chicago & Northern Illinois (our Wisconsin & Indiana friends too, of course)!

One more meet before it gets too cold:

Starved Rock State Park, November 3rd. Great chance to shoot the fall colors, get some exercise, fresh air, & hang out with fellow POTN members!
Let's try to get a nice group together shall we?

Drats, was just there this past Sunday...

Better hurry though, it would seem the peak would be sometime this week.

Good point , we stopped off there last weekend after a reenactment and it was close to peak colors in my opinion.

I've lived in Chicago my whole life and never been to this place.

Next year we need to go to the Botanic Gardens in the fall as a group. You can get in at say 6:30-7 am before they really open and it won't cost you a dime for parking because there is no one at the booth. A few people are there at that time but you pretty much have the run of the place until 10. Not much sun this morning but this is an awesome place to shoot.

I called and was told that as of the 23rd, the colors were changing and should remain "beautiful" over the next 8 to 10 days. Hopefully we will have some color left for next weekend... I checked the extended forecast and it's calling for temperatures in the upper 50's to lower 60's. Maybe that will slow down the change a little. Either way ...with the trails, bluffs, and waterfalls we should have a pretty good shooting day. The park opens at 5AM, but the trail parking lots open at 8Am and visitors Center at 9. I suggest we meet early (7-7:30) so that we can make the most out of the day. Given the distance of the park for most of us we should carpool wherever feisable. I can accomodate up to 3 persons in my car if anyone wants a ride. Attached is a link to more park information. I hope everybody is still interested!

The way its looking as of now we are going to have to cancel due to to many yardwork projects that need to get finished up. I am going to try and get things done after work during the week.

C'mon Andrew...work until midnight if you have to:p

For what it's worth. I called again today and actually was able to speak to a live person this time. She said the colors are beautiful right now and should maintain the rest of the week. It looks really promising for Saturday.

Who is still in?

is there a poll, or just this thread? No Geoff, no poll. I was just curious on who was still interested. However, I like the poll you started for Mike's Brookfield Zoo outing. Care to give it a shot? I'm terrible when it comes to linking stuff. BTW, it's supposed to be a beautiful day, Saturday...

If the location was a bit more unique, Sharon and I would pop over again. Fall colors are not one of our major interests. The POTN'ers are worth it though. Waiting on my 40D today, hope UPS is on the ball for a change.

Regards to all...."Illinoisiens" (?)

Jon

I posted this on the poll thread. Just in case some of you have missed it.

[Dropping like flies! I'm sorry a lot of you can't go, however, I'm still going. The trees, waterfalls and bluffs will still be there whether it's one person or a group of twenty. For everybody else, if you're still going please PM your telephone number so that we can coordinate.]
