Just wondering how many of you use ZB.

Still using the free stuff ... Zoombrowser and PS Elements. Haven't found a significant shortcoming to cause me to spend more money. I'd love to have the full blown Photoshop, of course, but they're a little too proud of it for my budget. :?: Question for the Breezebrowser and C1 users out there: as far as Zoombrowser goes - excluding RAW issues, what features am I missing out on by sticking with the Canon product?

I think all those apps have evaluation versions you can download. There is nothing like hands on experience.

I'm amused at how much this bothers you pekka

I don't use ZoomBrowser but I do use File View Utility and EOS Viewer Utility. If ZoomBrowser in the poll just refers to ZoomBrowser and not FVU or EVU then my response is NO to the poll. However, if they're all lumped together, then I guess I'll have to reply YES. :?

Yes, I still use it for now. I've only had one problem with it in the past year & went to downloader pro for a day then Zoom started working again. I'm a window user & I use ACDsee but overall I'm satisfied with zoom for downloading only. I use ACDsee for browsing & management & CS for editing.
When I build my new PC system & upgrade to the next replacement of the 10D I'll wait to see what software is needed & Available and go from there.

No. I'd used ZoomBrowser for a month and changed to BreezeBrowser.

What's Zoombrowser?
Actually, it was my main tool for downloading photos to the desktop back in my G1 days. I think this was before USB card readers were invented... or at least widely available (cheaply) anyway. :)

Yes, download only.
Use PSP 8 for everything else.

The only software I've used from the original CDs was the stitching program that came with the Ixus300.
And I think the CD that came with the G3 is still shrinkwrapped :P
For transferring photos to the PC I either use an USB-Cardreader or the PCMCIA2CF Adapter for the laptop.
Or at work a normal USB-Cable to connect the Cam to XP-Pro and view the cam as a drive.
For the rest I use ACDSee for viewing the pics, PS for working with them and some homemade software for renaming.

I've got a card reader and I just drag-and-drop in Windows Explorer for downloading. I'm used to that interface.

. . . it's called inertia, although they sacrificed some functionality during the various upgrades. I mean, I don't want to open folders in Zoom Mode!!! Usedta be able to choose a "Preferences" that would let me choose Scroll as default, now I can only set it on a folder-by-folder basis (although even that's an improvement - late 3s and early 4s made everything zoom). And the Camera Window used to stay open after transferring some files; now it closes every time. Makes sorting from the camera/card a royal pain! Ya know, maybe I'm ready to change . . .

I used to use it on windows, since moved to Mac, never touched it since, interface just too poor to look at.
I usually use CS, DPP, Photo Mechanics and C1 Pro

I like to use Zoombrowser for downloading the photos and for quickly checking them out, before turning to C1 for conversion and basic editing. FVU was just too slow...
No real excuse for using either ZB or FVU now: the new Canon EVU software neatly combines the functions of both. Well, no real excuse except for inertia...

I use it for quickly reviewing the downloaded images (exif, focus, IQ). I think it's great for this purpose. Ditch the ones I don't want, then drag and drop the ones I do over to CS2 for PP.

It came with some DPP upgrade and I never bothered to look at it.
Looks like it may be useful for a quick look, delete and move to PS2.

Im another none user.
Its just so much easier to drag and drop, and use Windoz XP existing customisable folder otions and photo viewer, which also consume less resources, and I don't have to worry about the time it takes to open a new program that I then have to close.
Personaly I think its a totaly redudant bit of software.
Interesting enough though, Iv read a few reviews where journalists have compared differnt software packages supplied with compact cameras, and ZoomBrowser has always come out on top, it makes me wonder how bad the compititions software is.
Canons Photostich however is a very useful bit of software, Adobe could learn a thing or to about building panaramas from it, infact they should just buy a lisence and incorparate it into the next Photoshop version.

Well, I wouldn't say totally redundant. At least it allows you to view exif, focus points and RAW images. I do agree that it's a bit of a resourse hog when dealing with folders that have a lot of images.

Well for me its totaly redudant.
I can't shoot RAW, can only select the centre focus point, and right clicking an image in XP lets you check the EXIF. :D

Card reader/Windows Explorer for me. Picassa as the basic image viewer, CS2 for editing. ZB never even made it off the Canon CD.

You might want to start a new thread with your question... I think your question may get lost here. Probably in the Post Processing section.
(Don't have an answer myself, or I'd try to help you out.
And welcome!

Someone had same question here as me, but I don't think it was answered:
What does BreezeBrowserPro give you that ZoomBrowswerEX doesn't?

What does BreezeBrowserPro give you that ZoomBrowswerEX doesn't?
When I first started doing digital BB was the first program that I bought. It was affordable and still is to a large extent. I still use it but certainly don't use it for RAW conversion. For that I use C1 Pro.
Breezebrowser works exceptionally well as a file viewer, even for the converted files that are now TIFF or JPG. It has a very good file renaming utility that will give you just about anything in your filename that can be found in your exif. It has a proofing utility that will take your final converted image and produce JPGs. In this routine you can add watermarks, basic colored frames, do sharpening. file compression, noise reduction and whole lot of other things that I have not made use of. The thing that I like is that you can start this and just walk away from it. You can accomplish this all in a photoshop action but BB makes it easy and you can change any of the options each time. I use this function alot when I want to get images done in a hurry. I do my CR2 conversion to TIFF, edit the TIFF to the point where I want them and then run Breezebrowser's proofs function and it will give me a set of JPG's in a new folder that I can upload to the web or send to a customer. Of course tweaking each image manually in photoshop is still the best course of action but this works great for something that you need to deliver quick.
It also has a HTML function that will create a web gallery for you and here again you have a multitude of options similar to the proofing option.
Breezebrowser is one of the fastest things out there in reading CR2 files. I use it to rename all my orignal CR2 files and then delete the obvious ones.
It is a fairly powerful utility but again I don't find it user friendly as a RAW converter but use it almost daily for alot of its other capabilities. Some of the other things that I use it for is exporting EXIF (this can be all in one file or a simple TXT file for each image and copying or moving files from the thumbnail display.
All in all a very good little program.

I use Breezebrowser to quickly scan my images from CF card and move them to the HHD. I think this is the fastest such software I have used......and I have gone through a lot of trial software only to keep coming back to Breezebrowser........Zoombrowser is/was way too slow........
