Don't like #1. All it shows are idling firemen with no background. #2 and #3 might look great cropped.

The firemen were idling, they had to sit and wait for the fire to burn down the canyon before they could fight it. That was the idea of the photograph.Don't like #1. All it shows are idling firemen with no background. #2 and #3 might look great cropped.

Great captures.. Intense events... Coverage of the fires is on most TV channels 24/7 here in Pennsylvania... Stay safe...

Nice shots, I really feel bad for all those people. That has to be a terrible thing to go through. We in Florida worry about hurricanes, but a raging fire must be as bad or worse.
It looks like a Corvette and possibly an old Cadillac in the driveway. It's a shame that they can't at least save the vehicles.
Thanks for posting.

That was an old Cadillac, but I think both cars were ok. They were more worried about saving the house.

Really amazing photos. Just curious, are you driving around out there taking these shots, or are these in your neighborhood as you're leaving the area? I really wanted to go out and take pictures through all of this, but at the request of my wife and mother, I just watched it on the news.

My wife and I drove up to this area, (only a mile away) and stayed as close as we could, as long as we could. We were really never told to leave, it was just suggested by the FD. The Sheriff deputies just told us to say out of the street so engines could get in and out. We were as close as 100 yards from the fire. I was across the street from the front yard fire.

I live in FH Ranch, only a few blocks away from those pictures but I had high tailed it out of there with my wife and 1yr old earlier in the day.
The fires moved south east over to trabuco canyon. Today I drove past Portola Hills and caught a few shots of some helicopters drinking from a lake.

Nice. I didn't really see the helicopters this time until later in the day.
Just the wrong place at the wrong time on Monday.
I got a few of the helicopters filling up a few months ago during the Gypsum Canyon fire off the 91 freeway.
