bought above MD before checking web resources (well it did seem a good price at £99)

ok to use in camera for single shots (can get 192 raw images on it) but as soon as i switch to 'motordrive' mode and start stacking frames in the buffer the card fails and camera reports error 02

all previously captured images are on the card when i upload, so am not loosing them,

me thinks i will be sticking to my CF cards and bringing this MD out when my back is against the wall

Ah... so it has problems in the MarkII does it? It's a well known disaster in the 10D so that's not too much of a surprise. I wouldn't use it at all if I were you.

They are not to be trusted. Either throw it away or see if where you bought it will take it back against a decent CF card. It will fail at the most inconvenient time as many people have found out.

will keep, hoping canon will release firmware update which may address issues

The issues are not firmware related to be honest.

They are down to the magicstor being crap and slow, so when you are trying to write a lot of data to it at once then you get errors.

The magicstor seems to fall out with all kinds of things... my 10D, my card reader, your MarkII... whereas the IBM and Hitachi microdrives seem to have no compatibility problems whatsoever. I have three (340MB/1GB/4GB) and the they all work great.

Conclusion? The magicstor would appear to be the unit at fault so don't count on any accomodation from Canon to "fix" it.

The Magicstor is is crap and a disaster waiting to happen.

Keeping = bad.

Trading in = Good.

The Magicstor "will bring you nothing but pain and heartache"... "and anyone who try's to tell you differently is selling something".

Trade it in at the store you got it, as quickly as possible, before it's too late. I don't know in which country you live, but probably the store can't refuse you (according to the law) returning the item if it's within a certain amount of time after you bought it.
