I'm vacationing in Puerto Rico, but in the mean time, I decided to go to this spot that I used to go to do illegal acts when I was a kid, so this time I brought my camera with me and took some pictures. Any critique will be welcomed.

Nice subject. I love it's color! And the way you've chosen to crop it works for me as well.

The photo's a bit busy to me, though -my eye's not sure where to go. Because the background is so much brighter than the tractor, my eye is drawn to the top of the frame although there's not much to look at there. To fix that, I'd suggest two things: Expose for the tractor so that it's a bit brighter (it's a little dark IMO), and allow the background to get blown out. Another thing that would help is choosing a small numbered aperture (like f/4.0) to blur the background. -Depending on your lens and how low of a number it'll allow, it could give you a very shallow depth of field so that the "FORD" is in focus, but everything behind it (the light, tire, etc) is blurred. That way, the viewer's eye will immediately go for what's in focus rather than hunting through the entire photo in search of an anchor.

That, of course, the above is only my opinion. Feel free to take it or leave it ;-)

thanks erica, I actually did an HDR at aperture f/22, that's why I'm not getting any DOF at all haha. But yeah, thanks for the suggestions, as soon as I get home from work tomorrow, I'll start playing with the idea.

Have a good one ;)

Heh, that explains why that board looks so well exposed and the color's so rich in the background though it's not over-exposed...

I think the subject's a little busy for an HDR shot, but that's coming from someone who can't seem to even get the technique right for some reason...
