The reason that there was never a Canon G4 (nor will there ever be) is that the figure '4' is pronounced like the word 'death' in many Asian languages (e.g. Chinese, maybe japanese as well).

For that reason, you won't find many products with the number '4' displayed prominently in Asian countries.

What about Macintosh G4 computer? Does it have some special name in Asia?

I should have phrased it correctly ... no products by Asian companies (Canon being one of them).

Western companies might just market their products there anyway ... only maybe fewer people are going to buy them...
