View Full Version : Bunny in the backyard

My wife and I stalked this bunny across my backyard. He didn't seem to mind much, until I got about 10 or 12 feet away. I took three shots and when I took the camera away from my eye I saw that my wife was about 6 feet away it. I knew that we live nowhere near Caerbannog, but I reached for the Holy Hand Grenade Of Antioch just to be safe, and it ran off.

Never trust a bunny. They're man-eaters.

It is a beautiful shot -- and animal. I took the same shot on a dull day and it just does not stack up against yours.
We have a cat and a dog and the do not tolerate rabbits.

I was looking at your rabbit picture when my wife passed by my office and saw the rabbit on the screen. She took off her slippers and was abot to throw it at my screen to "shoo" the rabbit away. (I did tell you about the bad experience she's been having with the neighborhood rabbit eating up all her plants and flowers, right?) :?

Good thing you were going for the Holy Hand Gernade: that rabbit looks hungry. Likely realized what was going on and figured lunch (your wife at 6 feet away) was not worth the battle.
I've seen a bunny close to our home too, but thankfully the electric fences and bunny traps are all in working order.
Nice shot of the little menace. Bet it took a few shots of whiskey to calm your nerves after that risky encounter.

After? I could have used it during the encounter. It was a good thing that I had IS on or that picture wouldn't have been very clear at all.
I will admit that once it ran off the wife put down her hatchet and took two full mouthfuls of Uncle Henry's Liquid Courage (110-proof). Can you blame her? She was only *6* feet from the beast!
KIDS - study this picture. Memorize it. If you see one of these nasty creatures then run away!
They're man-eaters I tell ya...

True your wife was clearly in mortal danger. A bunny can cover 6 feet in one good death leap.
About running away: If you just run away willy-nilly, you may incite the bunnies "chase mode" and you'll soon have a bunny on your back and it's teeth in your neck.
Sometimes it's best to slowly back away while facing the beast. These things are tricky. Never approach a bunny. Never turn your back on a bunny.
For those who think bunnies are cute: Watch the killer bunny sequence in "Monty Python and the Holy Grail" to see how deadly they can be.

I implore you to be careful, cmM!!
But I fear you won't...
I can see the headlines now:
"Man Killed By Cute Bunny"
And the headstone:

Killed by a Bunny

He was warned:
"He's got huge, sharp...
...he can leap about...
...look at the bones!!!"
But he was a non-believer

Excellent bunny, Scottes! I wonder if he is related to this guy I shot next to my driveway this summer a little west of Boston.
