I have 2 digital cams (and ixus300 and a G3), have always one with me and never find a subject interesting to shoot.
Ok... there's the family, the kids, that's about 75% of all the shots.
Sometimes I even ask myself the question when going for a walk: 'Shall I really take the cam with me?'
I won't say that I start losing interest in photography, but I'm stuck.

What I need is one/some short-/middle-/long-term project(s).

I even plan to buy a DSLR (just waiting for the Photokina), but sometimes I ask myself if I will really need it, on the other side I really want one.

So help me searching for inspiration...

Thanks...

Maybe this will give you some ideas: The Project (http://www.luminous-landscape.com/essays/the_project.shtml)

My oldest project is cups of coffee (http://jesper.fotopic.net/c10535.html). Some other ideas are patterns and one I stole from a book: find shapes that look like letters of the alphabet.

I really like the "what on earth is that" type things. Extreme closeups.

Thanks for the replies.
Jesper :
I checked for the page on luminous landscape: I think I found one subject that would interest me: Light and shadows.
I think here are some variations possible : like
1. BW light and shadows (like very hard shadows cast by the objects)
2. colorful light and shadows (windows in churches, etc)
3. Shadows on colored background
4. ... (to be thought of yet)

Steveo31 :
The 'what on earth is that' is interesting also. Could also be varied in 'take pictures of things from unusual positions'

I think Inspiration has come ...

I hope this thread helps other people too...

I'm going through something quite opposite. Today I'm doing sports photoraphy, tomorrow birds, next day landscapes, and so on.

I don't know if that's a bad thing or not, but most great photographers seem to be specialized in one or a couple things. there's so much stuff to be photographed....

Another suggestion would be is to participate in a contest. There is one running right now and it's very interesting. It kept me busy and everyday I come up with another idea.

It's in the "share" room, check it out.

I am excited to start my first project. Taking pictures of things that float ashore at the river. Always good stuff. Once I'm done that...

I am attempting to take shots of old barns, houses, buildings etc. . . that I see alongside the road in the country.

No particular project, but I'm still trying to find the connect between what I think is a good photo and what people see as a good photo. The connection is fairly loose at this point.
