Couple of shots with the new EF 50mm 1.8.

Only had the camera a week. Just loving getting out and trying out this fantastic hobby.

Any comments or suggestions on how to improve my shooting?

Both photos shot handheld.

(I am also a PS noob so this may need some better processing.)

Both not bad at all for noob shots. #1 needs some contrast enhancement to make it pop but you already know that.

The foliage in #2 is well placed but I still find it a little distracting. The scene could probably handle a little warm up too.

Hope you enjoy your new lens.

I love the tight depth of field you can get from the nifty...

Welcome to the POTN forums, and great pictures for a "noob" as you said. Personally, I think you are off to a great start. The first photo I like just as is. As for the second photo, the only adjustment I would possibly make is to warm it up a bit (as was mentioned). You can do this easily in PS by just adding a warming filter to it. Play around, see what you get.

Hope to see more. Keep it up!! :)
