View Full Version : How to ceate a Gallery, with fotos on another server...

Hi,

Maybe someone can help me with this. Sometime ago, I wanted to add fotos, which are on another server, to my photogallery, but I couldn't get the ftp paths to be setup correctly and I was getting an error message about the imagesize or something like that.

My question is if I could make the fotos, the normal ones, the thumbs and microthumbs, upload these manually to the server/webspace and then create a new gallery in my Exhibit Engine and add these fotos to this gallery?

Thanks a lot for the link. I think it will help me a lot. What I didn't know is that the thumbs and microthumbs, must be on the EE server. Maybe that is why I was getting an error message.
I"m sure it will work well. I just create the (micro)thumbs my EE server and upload the normal ones to the other serverspace and then point there in the path setup.

The thumbs CAN be on another server, but in that case you will see rex X's and empty filelists in editor. The public side of EE will use only URL's so the thumbs can be fetched from anywhere - only the editor will suffer.

Hi Pekka,

I just followed what was in the link Superfly posted and I managed to show in my EE gallery an exhibition where the main pictures are somewhere else and the (micro)thumbs are on the EE server. In the path setup, I just added the thumbs paths, uploaded to server, then uploaded the main images to the other webspace and then added a path to those in the path setup. The FTP server is set to OFF for these.

When I tried it sometime ago to upload the thumbs to the other server, I got an error message and posted that here, but didn't get any reply. The post is here, http://photography-on-the.net/forum/showthread.php?t=39045.

Thanks again for all the help. For now everything works, so I'll leave it like this.
