View Full Version : 580exII - Play on hotshoe?

Just got my 580exII yesterday, and I noticed that with the new locking mechanism, there seems to be a bit of play when it's locked on my 30D's hotshoe. Not up and down at all, but a bit of play when 'twisted' clockwise/counterclockwise. Is this normal? Anyone else notice this as well?

The new lock is a lot better than the older one, but if this isn't right then it isn't right. :p

Yeah. Mine also has a little play on both my 30D and 40D.

I can "wiggle" mine from side to side, not much at all, but if that's what you are calling "play" then I think its normal. I havent even fired my 580 II yet and I got it last week, GASP! I need to get to takin pictures lol.

So all is good, as long as I'm not the only one that noticed it :)

My 420EX has it too. I only just noticed today as today I was wondering about how to put the flash on a tripod.
