Hi folks,
Thought I would share with you a couple of shots of the new Heathrow Air Traffic Control Tower, one by day and the other by night. As always, thoughts, comments, points of technique, etc are most welcome.
Kind Regards
Mark

Nice shots, makes me miss the days of ATC, our tower never looked like that. Don't really think the Marine Corps would have gone for it:lol: Thanks for sharing.

The shot is a classic wide angle from under the belly, but what makes the picture special Mark is the jet flying overhead. Brilliant.
I'd like to mention the serious grain on the right side of the sky. There's none on the left... what's the story here?
Cousin. ;)

Hi Cousin,
I think the grain is introduced by reducing the quality to a 100kb jpeg. The RAW image weighs in at a spectacular 10.6MB and was shot on a 40D with a 24-105 L series at ISO100 which leaves the resulting image really smooth and noise free. I am guessing compressing from 10MB to 100kb takes its toll on any artifacts. Not quite sure why it is more apparent on the right hand side though.... Anybody got any suggestions??
Funnily enough, I didn't notice the jet when I took the shot due to a zonking great Virgin A340-600 taxiing past me at the time and I was wary of getting caught in the blast as he turned out of the apron, so it was one of those happy coincidences :D I was delighted though, as it adds a context to the shot.
Thanks for all your comments... Always appreciative.
Kind Regards
Mark
