Can somebody tell me what these circles are in my picture?
This was taken inside a hotel with a canon powershot s50 on automatic.
Any help would be appreciated. The Picture is posted on this page as I didn't know how to upload on this site. Thank you.

Either.. spots on the lens (less likely)

Or relections/flare caused by the lighting in the room.

I would say, according to their size and shape that tehy are reflexions of light on some particles on the front of your camera's lens

Here's the definitive answer... it's caused by shooting with the flash on in a dusty room. The actual cause is that your flash is too close to your lens and you're capturing dust particles lit by the flash. Since they're so close to the lense, they're not in focus and appears as rings of light.

If you were to take this picture with a 35mm (DSLR or otherwise) and a normal flash or even one off camera, this effect will be reduced dramatically or even eliminated completely.

I'm very confused here.
I am getting conflicting answers. Others have said the spots are from dust particles or light bouncing off the flash and the flash sits too close to the lens on this model? Someone suggested a flash cover?
The picture was not taken in dusts lol. It's a respected hotel in Vegas in the lobby. What is really weird is it's doing the same thing with my Kodak 7330 as well.
See below as I added an updated picture of my backyard.
Same circles appear. My backyard is not dusty
I'd just like to point and shoot and maybe mess w/a couple buttons.
I would not of purchased this model if I knew the lens was to close to the built in flash? What models are suggested to correct this problem?

I just cleaned the lens, took a picture in the day, it's still sunshine here and I see the same circles but scattered all around.
Any other suggestions?

You have changed environments and cleaned the front of the lense - therefore it must be something inside your camera. I have had a similar problem with my old canon p&s but with much fewer spots.

I have not changed environments as of yet. I have had the lens cleaned.
I will take some pictures and post back.
Big_B may I ask what model Canon you had the similar problem with regarding the circles? thank you
