View Full Version : Our little girl...

I take alot of photos of our little girl Elizabeth, but this one I took recently on Holiday stood out a little more, I was taking her for a walk and shooting pics of local flora and scenery, I had my G3 on macro when I shot this.
I kinda of like it but it is missing something, the sun is actually setting, however all the colur has been lost due to the over exposure of the foreground, it was way to close to use a flash. Perhaps something can be done with the colour, or should it be converted to B&W?
It has not been editied except for a noise reduction and downsize for the web. And no, I don't have a raw version of it to play with!
Any thoughts? (There should also be a prize if anyone can tell where it is!)

This is actually one of the few where she isn't smiling, these are more typical poses:

I dunno...Evey time I look at this one I like it more. Perhaps my only suggestion would be that I'd like to see the eyes a touch sharper.
Maybe you could ke in a nicer skyline? It looks like a nice clean line.
Overall I think it's an excellent shot...which is pretty good considering that I don't even like children!

lemme guess....Saipan, or Guam? South Pacific for sure?!?
Rockslut's idea about a new skyline is a good one...
Cheers!

I have had a shot at the sky, but it just didn't look right, I have even tried to darken just the sky with the levels hoping some information was there, but it is completely whited out. Will have another shot though, and see what I can do with the eyes!
Never been so Saipan or Guam, but you are right in thinking South Pacific, also a careful look at the shot on the plane reveals that it is an Air New Zealand flight (not in NZ though).

I caught the NZ flight mag so figured you were from there (and a quick under your name confirmed that), so it had to be somewhere within reasonable vacation distance....
I have been to Saipan and the background kind of reminded me of there so I figured I had to try!
There are SO many islands to the East of you there it could be anywhere....so I'll take another stab....something with an airport big enough (assuming you're not grabbing a puddle-jumper to a minor island) say Fiji or something in the french Polynesia.....wherever it was, I hope you had a great time!
Cheers!

Right par of the Pacific burtstill no, actually about 2km north or Muri Lagoon, Rarotonga (Cook Islands).
Highly recommended destination to get away and relax!

I really like the picture just the way it is. I think the composition makes up for the washed out sky. If you want to get both next time, just take 2 shots one being exposed for the sky and then do a digital blend in PS. But, the picture is great in my humble opinion.
