Available for Minolta,Nikon,Pentax,Canon, EOS ONLY 249.99 American.

I have seen this in magazines a few times now from a certain place....(not sure if I should post address since this is my first post here) I emailed them about not finding it on their website and they replied that they have it in stock and to phone them for information on it.

Anyone know anything of this offer or is this a classic bait and switch switcheroo....(then maybe I should post the address :D )

In closing......A fine forum........I've been here for weeks trying to learn a few things.....My thanks to Pekka and the forum members :D

It is probably legit, although my bet would be that you wouldn't get very good results from it. It has to be a monster too, so you might end up paying $50 or more for shipping.

Sounds like a big pile of crap to me, but if you get one let us know how is works....

does it show a picture, If not I would guess it's one of those telescope reflex type lenses. Thats a guess.

I was under impression that the telescope reflex lenses weren't zooms.

My first feelings are that it would be a huge waste of $ BUT....
I have recently bought and sold several old 2nd hand 400/6.3 lenses that one would assume would be obviously terrible. Not the case surprisingly, check out some examples here
http://members.dodo.net.au/~l8r_ron/index_3.html

I have also used several of the cheap brand mirror lenses. They are awsome to use being so tiny but the optical performance is SO frustratingly bad that i couldn't ever recommend buying one :x

Where the 630-1300 lens fits in -wether it's just pointless or is genuinely useable i can't say but based on my experience with the supposedly crappo 400/6.3's ,it might be ok

The only reason I could see to use this lens is for mountain photography..........Since I'm in the mountains and use tripod for long range photo's...........then maybe f8 wouldn't come into play so much......but someone must have knowledge of this lens........whether good or bad.....

Actually.........I'm sure it must be bad for that price lol

Perhaps this lens looks like this thing from Ritz (http://www.ritzcamera.com/webapp/wcs/stores/servlet/ProductDisplay?storeId=10001&catalogId=10001&langI d=-1&productId=29925&topCategory=&cat1=1022&cat2=9149 62).

I'll stick with my 100-400L + TC.

Since we don't know the brand name (probably none) and we don't know any of the specifications, we can only make basic assumptions. It will probably work, but it will probably work pretty crappy. It'll be better than nothing, but maybe not much better than nothing.

I bought a similar lens one time (years ago), used it for one important shot, thought it was decent... and then I discovered what a real lens did.

The f/8 wide open aperture is the tipoff. In the broad scheme of things, that is awfully slow.

It won't Autofocus.. it won't stop down,.. it DOESN'T zoom.. (it is a "650mm" with a 2X doubler @ f/16) ...and it's a big peice of crap.

Wow. 4 elements in two groups! It sounds more like a kaleidoscope than a lens.

i've seen a few of them around on ebay, looks like a long black plastic tube with nothing inside but two pieces of glass at each end

Here are some pics from an identical pheonix/samyang 650-1300 f8-16 lens.Obviously it's one of those chinese made lenses that are sold with different brand names.

Quite obviously it's not very sharp
If you can't view these full size, send me an email and i'll send a couple to you

This item has been auctioned before and passed in at us$83
Maybe worth asking the seller how much he wants and grap a bargain?
I guess that depends a whole lot on wether it's worth using at all.Personally after seeing the pics ,i'd pass for sure unless you seriously need a stunningly long lens.Remember this will act like a 1040-2080mm lens!!!!!
