I'm a total rookie with no prior film or digital experience. This camera is new to me and it's taught me a lot already. I was wondering two things

-I shot a wedding this weekend (amateur of course) and found there to be very little I could do to accomodate the medium to low light situation. If I go with a higher exposure the handheld shots are a little blurred. I didn't have a monopod with me. Would I turn up the ISO? I don't like to stay in the Auto setting because the flash made everyones heads in front of me white.

-Secondly even outside with quick shutter speed I found some shots to be blurred. How helpful is a monopod?

-Actually one more. What is the max exposure time of my camera and how do I set it to continuous shooting ie. once every 20 seconds for example.

Thanks for your time!

What lens? Can you post examples with EXIF data?

I still have the lens that came with the camera. I will be getting another lens or two in December. Unforunately I do not have any examples.

Which lens did you get 17-55 (?) or 45-85(?). Can you post EXIF data? What F stop. Lower the F Stop then more light will be let in allowing faster shutter speeds.

I have the 55mm. I'll try the f-stop next time. What about ISO? What would this do?

Increasing the ISO will help a lot, however above a certain point, I am not sure what point, you may start to get noise.

ISO400 and below should give you enough details, also if it's candid shot, try ISO 1600, then turn it into B/W, the grainy noise could be a good thing sometimes

Since you have a 55mm, open up the aperture instead of increasing the time the shutter is open. Opening up the aperture and increasing the shutter time do the same thing: increase the exposure.

An ISO increase will also increase the exposure (but save this for situations where Aperture and Shutter speed don't help enough.)

Keep shooting and having fun.
