I wanted to let the birders out there that this is the time of year the Sand Hills visit Northern Indiana.
Jasper Pulaski Wildlife area, approx 50 mi South-East of Chicago, on Highway 421.
This weekend found almost 10,000 birds laughing and talking in the observation field.
Best viewing is at sun-up, as the field opens to the East.
Great viewing area and open to the public.

I've been told that the Cranes continue to visit until mid to late November.
Mostly depends on the snow cover.

We get them all over up here in Wisconsin too. Some visited our wetlands this spring. You can hear them honking from a mile away. :)
