Just wanted to say hello and sort of introduce myself. I am a late 40's amature photographer that also has a interest in marine aquariums. The two hobbys are related in that my primary photography interest is photos of my reef aquarium. I have been using a Canon S45 for about 3 years and just recently purchased a Canon G5. I am also very active on forums related to the saltwater fisf/reef hobby so I am very familiar with these types of forums(I moderate a very large forum). My primary interest here is to gather information and experience so that possibly I can improve my photo quality. I've been reading/searching your forums for a few days now and decided to register and start the process of developing my photography skills. So for now just a hello and a warning...I need lots of help...and will be back for questions and critiques. 8)

Hi BDWalley,
welcome to the forum!
You've just come to the right place to find out everything about Canon digital cameras. However, if you've been using your S45 for 3 years now, you should not really qualify as a 'rookie'
You might also find a lot of other people who share your interests. I, for one, like to eat fish a lot.
Best regards,
Andy

Welcome!
You have picked an opportune time to come into the forum. There have beena couple of posts in the last few days about the S45 and underwater photography. You're going to make an excellent resource.
There are a great bunch of people here, the only thing wrong is they have much too much time to try and convince you that you don't need all that money and you definately need more camera equipment!!

True said ....
... for the amount of money you might spend on some some odd fish (that don't even taste much, most likely) ... you could buy a lot of photographic equipment
Best regards,
Andy

Welcome aboard BD Walley, I think you'll find plenty of interesting and informative people here.
I also think you're gonna enjoy your new G-5. :D
