Test me, test me
Why don't you arrest me?
Throw me in the jail house
Until the sun goes down
Till it go down
~Garcia/Hunter

Fun, fun, fun!

A joyous night in Glens Falls, NY which had Trey Anastasio sitting in with Phil & Friends in what could only be seen as Trey's *coming out* party. For those who don't know, Trey got himself in a bit of trouble recently for being too much of a rock star. Because of that, he had to live in NY state and was confined to a three county area of the state. All he has been doing is practicing, practicing, practicing and making sure that he stayed away from the things that got him in trouble.

Phil Lesh, ever the Merry Prankster, created a set list that had all-but-one song filled with jail/arrest references. Also, pre-show, Phil was made honorary mayor of Glens Falls. When asked what his first official act was he didn't miss a beat. "I hereby pardon Trey Anastasio."

The show was very special and I am blessed to be able to share these photos with you. As always, comments and critique are welcome.

First of all, fantastic shots. #5 is classic. Did you have a photo pass?

Damn...I was considering going down to see this with some friends but I decided against it. If i'd only known Trey was going to be joining them. TReeeeeeeeey. So, how did he play? Sound like he has been practicing allot?

Yes. I had a photo pass. Too bad you missed the show. It was one for the ages. Trey has been playing a lot at local small (read tiny) venues during his hiatus. Sort of an involuntary woodshedding.

If you do a search of my started topics here, you will find 2 other Phil Lesh & Friends shows that I have posted photos from. One recently from the Camden, NJ gig and one from this past April at SOBs in NYC.

I like #2 and 5.
#2 looks sharper on the hands then face. Sharpening or OoF?

Why only long lens shots?

wow tony, these are great. i think they might be some of the best i've seen from you. (although i haven't check your latest bruce shots yet).

that's funny about phil pardoning trey. glad to hear trey is playing well. i didn't hear he was playing small clubs on his "timeout". i bet that was very cool.

Twelve guitarists and one keyboardist with twelve keyboards! You Jerseyites really know how to mess with a guy! :-) The guy in #5 only has that one expression I guess. Sorry, I'm a bit dizzed from ShoXC MMA images all shot through a chain link fence, sigh.

# 2 focused on the hands, for sure.

Some are long lens, some are the 17 - 55 IS are various focal lengths. I mixed them up a bit for this set. The first 3 songs were shot in the pit, the rest of the 1st set was shot from all around the arena to get different angles. It was a tough set to put together as I have easily 300 solid photos to choose from.

Thank you. Phil has provided much of the soundtrack to my life and to shoot him is a personal joy. Karmic circle and all that hippie stuff...

As for Trey's expression...yep, that is the one he has all the time. A livin', breathin' muppet. The question always asked is, "What exactly is he looking at up in the sky?" Nobody has a good answer so far unless it's the ghost of Jim Henson.
