Hi folks,
Apologies if this is off topic.

I want to get a portable storage device, mainly for camera use, to transfer images from flash card to the device.

The xdrive 2 looks cheap and cheerfull.

However, I also want to use it with my pda, in that context I'd want to use it to transfer media files from my pc to the xdrive, then transfer selected files form the xdrive to a flash card, to then view on my pda.

Does anyone know whether the xdrive can do this - I guess it's unlikely? Or recommend a decent alternative?

Thanks
Hugh.

Hugh - I am being particularly thick this evening BUT (whoops) why cant you transfer back from the PC to card (having 'developed' - USM etc) and use in PDA?

Nope.. it can't.

The X-drive CF interface is a one way street. Yopu can copy cards to the X-drive.. but not vice versa.

Of course the USB2 interface works both ways.. to and from the Xdrive via an attached PC.

When you connect the X's Drive II to a PC you can transfer files from the HDD to PC, PC to HDD, HDD to CF, CF to SD, MS to CF etc. (anything to anything)

When the X's Drive II is used by itself (Without a PC connected) then you can only tranfer from CF to HDD (or SD to HDD, MS to HDD, etc). i.e. From any flash media card to the HDD. Also the only option is to create a new folder on the HDD and copy the entire card to that folder.
