Heads

A novice question. Do you think there are mono/tripods that can share the same head. The idea is to switch between them w/o dealing with the hassle of changing the plate too.

there are heads that share the same quick release plate. My tripod has a 3030 head and my monopod....3229. (Manfrotto).

If I think about it.... I don't think I have ever tried swapping them. But they look identical to me.

Swapping heads is a bit of a PITA some times.. so the trick as I see it.. and as cmM mentions.. is to make sure you have two heads that use the same QR (quick release) system.

Thus far I have maintained an all "Manfrotto RC2" QR system.

Most of Manfortto's heads can be had with a choice of number of QRs that can be built in.. or you can just get heads and add the "female" half of the QR to the head.

Either way.. all your heads should have the same QR for your own sanity.

You are right CDS, I was referring to QR not the head. Would be nice to exchange the two quickly.

Ditto on the Bogen/Manfrotto RC2 quick release system. I have three differenct heads on two tripods and a monopod. I also have QR plates on all my bodies, and on all the lenses that use tripod rings. It saves a lot of time when changing lenses and cameras.
