Today I received my Ilford Galerie Classic Gloss Paper and did some prints on my canon IP4500 but I haven't successed to get decent prints.
I have downloaded the paper profil from the ilford web site (it's the profil for the ip4200 as they don't have the profil for the ip4500 yet, but they told me I can use the 4200 profil instead).
For the print setting they recommend to use "other photo paper" as media type and "high" or "fine" as print quality. However, when I select in the driver configuration "other photo paper" I d'ont have access to "high" or "fine" quality. The unique available quality is "standard"... So this is a first problem.

I tried also to print with EPP. But with EPP I don't have access to driver configuration (to specify quality) and I don't find "other photo paper" in the available media type that EPP displays... so this is a second problem.

If you have an ip4200, ip4300 or ip4500, and if you use the Ilford Galerie Classic Gloss paper, can you please explain me how you proceed ?

BTW, I did some prints on canon PP-101 paper, Ilford galerie smooth pearl and Ilford galerie high gloss media and got excellent results.

Thanks in advance.

Ilford "smooth" and "classic" papers are made differently - the "classic" line includes a special polymer on the surface that interacts with the ink - the webiste describes it. The Classic papers require different settings than the Smooth papers - and they supposedly last longer.

I don't know anything about your printer, but with my 9100 I use Photo Paper Plus Glossy setting with great results. I use the standard Canon print profiles - tried the Ilford ones but the results were not as good.

Good luck!

I don't know about your specific printer. (I use Epson Pros) But, the Ilford Pearl papers are for dye based inks and the Ilford Classic papers are designed to be used with pigment based inks. Based on the fact that you say you got great results with the classic paper, but not the pearl leads me to believe that you have a pigment ink based paper.

I just re-read my response, and I had it reversed...you most likely have dye based ink since you can print to the Pearl paper.

Yes the ip4500 is a dye ink printer for photos and has a pigmented black ink for text I guess.
Finally, I found a configuration which gives me good results with the classic gloss paper. I select the ilford profil and the "papier photo brillant" for the media type (sorry it's in french in mt driver).

However for other ilford papers what gives me best result is to select the canon professional paper profil and canon professional paper media.
