I really like the frame in this example, I have seen many similar ones but the thing that separates this one from others is the chiselled cut on the matt and the really nice bevel on the outer frame.

If any of you have an action that will help me make this kind of frame or if any of you could share the steps that would enable me to recreate it I would be really grateful.

Many thanks

Hold onto your seats, and click here (http://photozo.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=531).

More of Bud's stuff is mentioned in this (http://www.retouchpro.com/forums/showthread.php?t=4298) thread.

GMitchel has some good stuff - Zip file (http://www.thelightsright.com/DigitalDarkroom/PhotoshopTools/TLR%20Edge%20Effects.zip) and a tutorial (http://www.thelightsright.com/DigitalDarkroom/LearningGalleries/Adding%20Edge%20Effects/ArtisticEdgeEffects.htm) on how to use them.

Some of these are kinda advanced. It's a good idea to expand the action and see what it's doing. And if the author didn't make allowances for it, you can tweak some of the settings by toggling the dialog on:

http://www.itsanadventure.com/postimages/actionexample.gif

This will stop the action at that step and let you adjust the settings used for that step. If you want to skip a step simply uncheck the checkmark next to that step.

And don't forget that you can run 2 frame actions to get a pretty fancy frame.

The colors of the frame is what makes it good.

try fredmiranda.com

he sells actions that make frames and matts, and you decide which color/frame matt combo to make by selecting foreground and background colors in PS
