here`s a photo of a ruddy duck since this photo was taken ive been informed they are culling these species so il keep it to myself where this photo was taken hope you enjoy.

bit soft like it was taken facing the sun. They are being culled (wiped out in fact) because they have interbred with the native White-headed duck. Personally I don't know what gives the experts at DEFRA the right to decide which species should thrive and which should be exterminated but all the protests have come to nothing.
P.S. given the latest population forecasts for the UK we might have to start thinking of a cull closer to home!

Right handsome looking little chap. Sorry to hear he is causing problems and will be culled.

We have ruddy ducks here also. We have a hunting season for ducks but the ruddies leave our area before it starts. Nice shot.

Here too, but they aren't targed by many hunters. Due to their diets, they have quite a stong taste and aren't coveted like other species.
It's nice to see a ruddy that is in breeding plumage. 99 percent of the ruddys I have seen are drab brown.
