I cannot seem to get these to work together as I did with my 580EX I. I havent done anything different.
If there is something I am completely missing let me know. I am so frustrated because I dont really want to have to use AA batteries all the time.
I have no problems with 4 AA batteries installed. Maybe this flash just isnt meant for a battery pack.

Ah well I didnt know that. Thank you. I will definitely check into that. But I just really dont like lugging it around for a wedding anymore..... It seems to get in the way too much between the thing being on my hip and the cord.

How is that any different from the Quantum?

I'm sorry if my statement confused you.
I meant I would look into the update quantum posted on their site. I tried looking before, but somehow skipped the main page where it is, but finally did find the information I was after.
But I meant I am just tired of lugging the pack around, period.
It just doesnt bother me to buy $8 worth of batteries that will last for a few hundred shots.

Ohhh ok gotcha. I thought you meant you'd not like a CP-E3/4 but don't mind a Quantum.
The CP-E3 is good enough for me. I don't like to shoot a wedding with my primary on AAs only in the flash...it's not about the longevity though. Recycle times are too long for my taste. In the 2nd it's fine since I don't use it nearly as much.

Okay well I will sit and rethink then... Deal with the cord being a pain sometimes or buying hundreds of dollars in batteries because I sold my unit that would last a hell of a long time lol. That's kinda why I got it..... spend $550 now and save later

Well if recycle times don't bother you, just get a couple sets of NiMH and change them out as needed. They're a one-time expense until they're totally shot and won't take or hold a charge.

Rght... So I think I will just stick with my battery pack. No sense in spending money on batteries if there's no need to.... Well, besides the occasional switches I will have to do with the batteries that run the flash unit itself even with the pack. But they last a real long time.

You can disable recycling using those batteries when a Quantum is plugged in anyway, so they'll last even longer still...only running the LCD.
