I am looking at the Canon Deluxe Photo Backpack 200EG, Black with Olive. Any opinions on this bag. Have you used http://www.adorama.com? Was it good service? I have read on reseller ratings that they called someone and tried to sell them a filter. Did they call you?

Thanks!

I have bought a lot from them.

They almost always call or e-mail saying they need to talk to me about my order...and it's always to either sell me an extended warranty on smething or a filter set. The last time I spoke with a live person I got a bad taste because M. (won't use full name) asked me how old I was and he said I sounded young and hot. Well, he sounds old and not.

I have purchased from them for years. And will continue doing so.

They usually ship same day, by UPS, so yu can track. Default delivery arrives next day...NY to MD isn't that far.

Except for the pushy salesmen, I'd give them a 9 out of ten.

Their verification department gave me many headaches.
When you deal with them, always ask for Fred. He's the best salesman they have, and probably the only reason I would go back there.

I use the Canon backpack and have been very pleased with it. I purchased it from B&H so I cannot comment on Adorama regarding this particular item.

I didn't like the padding and construction on the Canon Label backpacks (seemed to 'flimsy' to me, of course that's my opinion). I opted for a Tamrac backpack that is of high construction and VERY padded (Expedition 5 I believe).

I've never had a problem with Adorama and I have used them several times.

I also use the Canon backpack and it is less quality than the more expensive ones. Like everything else, you get what you pay for. Its a good bag for the buck.

I'm not familiar with these packs, but just as an item of information, and because you're young, don't expect to get a lifetime of use out of anything that has foam rubber in it. Over time, it will break down, and leave little, tiny bits that will stick to everything.
I've had to replace the inserts for my aluminium cases twice, & I had to reline the interior of my "Aspak" so I could continue to use it.

I like how easy it is to rip the label off of a LowePro bag. The Canon bag has it stitched in too heavily. I definitely don't want a bag with a label saying that I have the best equipment in the world in it. At least with LowePro, even if I couldn't take the label off, the potential thief might think it is a Nikon and go elsewhere. :D

I have no experience with Adorama.

Should I get me a Nikon label and tape it on top of whatever I get?

I've dealt with them before as well. I agree, they have some pushy salespeople, and somebody by the name of M..... comes to mind (though he didn't make any advances, thankfully).

They're reliable, but a little pushy in the sales area.
I prefer B&H myself, but I'll deal with Adorama if necessary and without fear.

B&H and Adorama are related, so basically you're dealing with the same company anyway.

I'd never heard that before. Are you sure?

I have dealt with them over the past few years and NEVER once have I received an email or needed to talk to them about anything other than what I purchased. As a matter of fact when I do call them they are very quick to get off the phone. Almost to the point of rude. So I'm not sure you are talking about the same company. Adorama has never been known to try to upsale. They have an excellent reputation. Their relabeled products (bags, monopods, etc) are even reviewed in a couple of photog mags. In other words they are known in the industry on a positive note.

Yes, I am sure. I don't know the detailed lineage, but the owners are cousins. I'll see if I can find the orignal post.
