This car just POPS out to me... Is it just the perfect lighting or what!?

I set my aperature at 22, used a tripod, and mirror lock to take this pic of my car earlier today.. Yes, it was a crappy job with lighting, but the view with the car the other way was way too busy...

Well you shouldnt use the biggest aperature your camera is capable of.

Is it just the perfect lighting or what!? Joke, right? OTOH it does look pretty good in #2 if you ignore the other obvious problems.
Black cars are among the easiest to photograph if you give them a chance & put them in the right light.

hmm, the first looks like a car from a video game or something... there was no PP?

If anything it looks like real low resolution.

For what it's worth, neither of those images pops to my eyes.

Your in Minnesota, surly you can find some better backgrounds. If you are looking to blur out the background then you need to go with a low no. aperture. Lower no. less depth. High no. more depth.

If you use CPL filter you could play around with the lighting/reflection on the car to get some cool images.

how much did you step back in #2? Judging from the perspective I would say you where a decent distance from it because of the perspective. The further you are the smaller the car will look compared to the background. With the little reflection in the car on #2 and the disappearance of detail in the dark spots because of the high contract it has the model car look. for a better DOF get closer to the car and set the aperture as big (smaller number) as you can.

first looks a little pixelated and you should try to avoid taking pictures on the shadow side like in #2
