Hi I am looking to invest in a tripod that will support my 10D and a 100-400 IS. I want one that I can get low down with (flowers etc) . Someone recommeded a Benbo Mk1 that I can get off ebay - any good?
I'd appreciate any advice

Don't know about the Benbo but I have a Manfrotto 190Pro that can practically spread out flat on the ground if you want it to. It can support 5 (or 6?) kilos max. so it should be enough. Might be woth looking into.

Gitzo G2220 with a decent pan/tilt head. I find it much easier to set a pan/tilt for things like flowers or landscapes. Ballheads aim quickly, but not precisely. Pan/tilts aim slowly, but precisely.

I use the Gitzo 2220 with the Kirk BH-3 ballhead with the same set up(I do have the BigEd battery grip) and the L-plate from Kirk. Works great, especially for the odd positions for close up work.
