Support their message or not (and let's not bring it up) :) , you did a Great job and I wouldn't have figured these were from your first time out. Send any to the local newspaper?

Thanks for sharing. I just read about a bit protest in San Francisco yesterday. We need more of them and more photo-journalism of them.

I like the black and white versions. Somehow the message feels stronger

Good captures of an event that we may be seeing more of soon. There was a march too yesterday here at NYC, but I wasn't able to take photos (my son had a chess tournament). Thanks for sharing!

thanks for the comments . i felt i did alright for a first time effort , you definately have to be quick thinking on this kind of stuff , it was challenging for sure . i did send some into the newspapers because i noticed that there were quite a few tv cameras there but only one other still photographer , which i thought was a little strange .

I kinda like #2 and the last the most. What does the yellow ribbon symbolize? I'm guessing this isn't the suicide prevention one...

Ah, okay.. Makes a bit more sense than the suicide thing :)

the yellow ribbon is a 'support the troops' symbol . it is pretty new here , i never really saw it until a couple of years ago . the idea probably came from what Rhilton4u posted .

Actually, I remember the yellow ribbon from the first Gulf War back in the early nineties. What I was wondering about was why one of the ladies has a rainbow flag. What's that got to do with an anti-war protest? I like the set of pictures and agree w/ another member about the B&W conversions. Great series. --joe

Love #3! Great work. They each have unique qualities. My only advice would be to try some other angles, such as really low angles from a crouch, or raising the camera above your head to get an overall shot.
