Just wondering if anyone has used a PC Sync Adapter on a Canon Digital Rebel. I have been using an adapter I bought from Ebay for the 6 months or so (About 4000 shots) and when I went to use it yesterday it failed to fire my off Camera Flash.

I'm wondering if the problem could be the PC Sync Adapter or the Hot Shoe on the camera itself.

No error messages appears on the camera and all of the other features of the camera appear to work with no issues. I do not have an external Canon Flash to test to see if the hot shoe is still working. I've been trying to locate a new PC Sync Adapter today, but none of the stores in my area seem to carry one.

Any Advice or help on this would be appreciated.

When I had my 300D, I used a Wein Safe-Sync (http://www.bhphotovideo.com/c/product/245292-REG/Wein_W990560_Safe_Sync_Hot_Shoe_to.html) adapter to fire my old studio strobes that were outside of the operating voltage of the camera. I never had any problems with it. Have you tried another strobe to make sure it's not what died?

The strobe will work fine in slave mode and when I pull the sync code out of the strobe it will fire. Even the on camera flash will fire.

Do you think I could have burned out the hot shoe on the camera? I have been using the sync adapter for a longtime now (about a year) with no issues. I'm just worried it's the hot shoe and not the sync adapter. If it's the sync I'm cool with replacing. Just not happy if I have to replace the camera...

When I have wein safe sync, the flash won't pop up if I press on it. I think that's normal, but I'm not sure if that's the case with you.

Do you have a camera hotshoe adapter that has a mechanism to lock the adapter in place. Or does it just slide on?

The ones with some sort of locking mechanism seem to be more reliable.

The issue could also be the male PC connector on the cord and not the connection between the adapter foot and the camera's hotshoe.

Do you have a PC tip conditioner that you can reform the male PC connector on the cord?

Enjoy! Lon
