Since the ipod connects through 6 pin firewire, and the 1Ds have 6 pin firewire connection, I wonder if anybody can make a firmware/software that'll let the camera download directly to the ipod.

that'll be the coolest thing.

you could download your photos to it and blank your CF card, then take more photos. Same as with the PC, but the ipod is a lot more portable!

Why don't you use the delkin interface to directly load the contents of the cf card to the ipod?

You'll even save a cable and a lot of programming (don'T know if you can write software for the ipod)

Best regards,
Andy

You'll be shooting with a min 15GB storage! transferred through Firewire!
No more running out of storage space.

FYI a 512 card only holds 36 RAW or 70 Jpegs on 1Ds. That sucks big time. And the delkin is too slow to be usable.

Why? Do you shoot faster than the Ipod downloads the files over the Delkin interface?

- Get 2 cards (1 GB would be better)
- As soon as one is full, pop it out and download it to the IPod via the interface
- In the meantime, continue shooting with the other card

Andy

I've occasionally thought it might be nice to have some kind of external storage device that the camera could write to directly. Whenever I do, I always come back to the realization that such an arrangement would probably be cumbersome and add yet another layer of complication to an already-comlicated device. A wireless device might be useful, but extremely difficult to implement. It would also mean more expense---another piece of equipment to buy.

Right now you can get a 4gb micro drive for about the same price as an iPod. I can shoot 360 RAW images with my Mk II without reloading, and I don't have to worry about any external piece of hardware. I really can't imagine a time when I will be taking anywhere near that many shots at one time (fingers crossed), but I will be ready should the need arise.

I know there are people who are afraid of microdrives, but I don't see any reason to be more trusting of the hard drive in an iPod.

both my 1 GB microdrives failed on me and lost me a $2000 job.

It's now just sitting in a shelf not doing anything. I don't think I want to risk it with 4GBs.

Andy that card reader is worthlesse. I had a buddy at compUSA test it out for me, he said he transfered 512mb. After 15mins and it not being halfway done he decided to quit.

I was just looking at this, because my mom isin town with her 15g ipod.

I don't know if its the same or better then the standard belkin reader quoted above, but it is "prettier" and costs 30 bucks more.

Its a great scam that apple has going, you buy the pod for 299, and then spend a thousand for accessories.

if i had already owned one, I would certainly leverage the capacity. No reason not to.
