when i download my pics they are always darker than what is displayed on my screen or on my TV when showing pics. What causes this?

an uncalibrated monitor. Try increasing the brightness and/or contrast on your monitor. (ideally you should calibrate it for best colors)

is there a possibility to adjust the brightness and the contrast of a Laptop Screen.

Depends on the video card in the laptop. If your laptop has an ATI chipset (the only ones our laptops at work use), you can adjust the gamma and the colors from the control panel. Some Compaqs allow you to adjust the brightness by holding the FN key and selecting one of the keys above the numbers. It usually looks like a sun.

I'm sure the laptops with Nvidia chipsets should have a similar way to adjust the colors/gamma/etc from the control panel.
