Evening gentlefolk

The end of the season has appeared on the horizon but it's not quite time to do DIY yet! Saturday saw my final visit to Lydden this year and a swift chat and handshake with Box Brownie. All shot with my 30D and 100-400 lens.

1. Sprints in the morning means one at a time. Perhaps the set-up on Paul Goddard's Escort was a bit off? He hadn't touched a kerb or anything...

2. Flame spitting Escort rally car

3. A true Lydden special. WHAT THE HELL IS IT?!

4. Mark Burton won both the sports races

5. The very enthusiastically driven Mini of Bob Town

6. Bouncy!

7. You may have wondered what the thread title was about... and here you go. It all starts to go wrong here. But I stood my ground. Brave Joffan. (In all seriousness I knew he wasn't going to hit me!)

Then it was off to Brands on Sunday to get wet. And to have some more cars thrown at me.

Thanks for looking. Any comments always welcomed be they good or bad.

Nice set of images ~ just goes to show what being infield can do for the 'types' of angles/images you can get, jealous or what lol!

I like #3 especially, he was giving everyone a run their money ~ bold and cutting driving as I saw it.

#6 - Car #2 was living on the edge trying the rough once too often methinks. Did he sell it - one careful owner!

#8 Glad you got that one. I saw him go off from up the hill at the hairpin far too late to get any pictures.

#3 appears to be some kind of Imp special, I think !

I agree very 'Imp like' but the programme says "Robert Knox - Car is a Maguire Stiletto with 998 Gemini engine" With that size engine it must be all spaceframe and a plastic body he was going so well!

Sunbeam Stiletto is a variation of the Imp, using the Sunbeam badge instead of the Hillman. Other variations include the Hillman Husky, the Imp Sport and the Singer Chamois.

So this will be a silhouette version with a spaceframe and probably a highly tuned Imp Sport engine - possibly 120bhp!

I'm very impressed Andrew!

And thankyou all for your comments. I had almost a preat performance on Sunday! Thread to follow though.

I'm a bit of a car geek in my spare time :)

I learn something new every day. I remember all of those variations but never saw the Sunbeam Stiletto 'variant'. Both Chrysler/Rootes & British Leyland/BMC exercised such badge engineering in their day. On a related tack I wonder how many Sunbeam Tigers there are still running original condition?
