If I power down my S1IS or A40 or disconnect it, i cannot relaunch my canon photo software. And it seems to lock up my computer. End Tasking MSG32 or something like that restores the computer.

The readme files in the canon directories say turn off the drivers? How do you do that??? I use WIN98SE.

You could try this;

Are you familiar with "Device manager" ?

Youi could go into Device Manager... find the offending hardware.. and right click on it.. select "disable in this hardware profile"

That should turn off the driver.

Of course.. this will mean the driver is allways off.....

You'd have to go back and turn it back on.. which often means removal and reistallation for some hardware.
