Well today, actually yesterday technically was the premier rally, very very wet, and not very goo dconditions for shooting, so the photos imo weren't really up to scratch, but anyways, i'll see what you lot think.
There weren't many photograpers there, not sure where they all were?

C&C most welcome

...is it because in rally you have to do left and right hand bends?

...seriously - I was just talking about this the other day but couldn't work out a valid reason? I think that the evolution of todays rally from the earlier days of the sport has it's roots in really narrow twisty european roads - I have always thought that the Dukes of Hazzard had the makings of a really good stage rally on their doorstep... Would it have been the same if the General had been an EVO or a Scooby?

As for the pic's I think they were all quite good but the light got me too. I started on flash and stuck with it. I will post up some of mine tomorrow. Willy, where were you on the stage?

Pete - I was near the sharp right hand, then sharp left hand. near the main bend near the visitor website. Then i moved towards the end bend. Was such a good day

Gary - i was wearing the black coat with blue hoodie, and a big umbrella. I didn't see many photographers there at all, one bloke with a 70-200mm f2.8 and that was it!
Had a brilliant day mind!

Nice pics, 2 and 4 are my favourite.

Youve got the American Rally Championship over there. And Rally New York trying to get into the WRC. I think it has got a good change in the next few years cause the WRC is starting to chop and change rallies every year. Oh and it has the backing of Nicky Grist witch helps.

There is, just not on the same scale... there are rally-x events fairly frequently in MI, ice races up north, and full blown rallys a few times a year, even an amature rally that just about anyone can enter. It's just a matter of figuring out the places and times they are held, but there is definitly rally races in the US.

Great shots, no. 7 is definitly my favorite, although the GC's looks very sharp as well :D.

willy b.
I looked at your other posting before this. The shots in this posting have been taken in different place on the circuit, as the background is more solid with no light coming through the trees they look a lot better, plus some of them at higher shutter speeds. Well Done nice set.
