I live in Albuquerque and the short answer to your question is "not really".
They rarely have in stock ANY L lenses or even the popular non-L lenses, one of them (Kurt's Camera) recently quick taking personal checks, even local ones ... credit card only!

If you want "basic" stuff they may have it in stock ... otherwise it's "we can order it for you" and then expect a 2 week wait. I get far better selection, delivery and pricing from B&H on-line. As much as I'd like to support local businesses they don't make easy. With all the scenic beauty of the state you'd think there would be some top-notch photo shops ...nope. NM revolves around "native american" arts & crafts, not photography.

There are basically 3 photo shops in town of any significance. Kurt's Camera Corral, Camera & Darkroom and Ritz Camera.

That's the problem with small camera shops. To keep costs down they keep small inventories, but can "order it" for you. If they want to keep larger supplies they have to pass those costs onto the customer. When I bought my Canon 17-40 L I first went to my local shop but they wanted $150 more than B&H. Even with next day air B&H was cheaper.
