This one was taken during a visit with family a while ago. It was one of those things where you see it and know you just have to pull off to the side of the road and grab the camera and tripod. C&C always welcome. I really appreciate it. Thanks. http://thephotoforum.com/forum/images/smilies/icon_smile.gif

Very nice indeed. Seems a little over-saturated, though.

Thank you blighty. Actually, the ground is just a bit saturated, but no saturation was done to the sky at all. I appreciate your kind words and feedback. :)

Isn't it amazing how such a simple object can lead to such a great image?!?

Very well done, I like it :)

Love the colors, lights and whole feeling of this. Night job spotting & shooting it.

Beautiful in its simplicity. I've had to actually reduce saturation on some shots in order to keep them from looking "oversaturated". Not sure why or how some come out so vibrant, and others don't, other than the time of day, haze in the air, etc.

Nice capture... As someone earlier said, sometimes the most powerful images come from the simplest of subjects... Thanks for sharing

Where in the Midwest is this? Grew up there and just curious.

This was in beautiful southwest wisconsin about 10 miles away from the Iowa border. Thanks very much for the kind words, WahooWolfe. :)

Really fine capture...
I often find or have been asked regarding saturation. I think (non scientific) that the great lakes make a difference in the color of the sky!
It's somewhat like the first time I went to southern California 25+ years ago!!!
I was just transfixed on the blue sky... of course that was in February and I came from Michigan... sooo
Again love it !

It's a wonderful image. Really well done. It may just be me, but it seems as though the windmill is tilted ever so slightly to the left. It might be that the horizon is off or that the windmill is actually listing, or possibly the lens that you used, but I think a degree or two of straitening could be applied. Thank you for posting this.

Was it around Dickeyville?

Nope. Ive been to Dickeyville though, to see the grotto. Go about 40 miles northwest to around Eastman, and thats where this was taken.

Thanks for asking WahooWolfe! :)

I really like this one. I also enjoy shooting the old windmills. There a dying breed. There just arent very many of them around anymore. To find one with all the blades still attached is getting rare around here.

Whoa! You say just a bit of processing for the foreground? What an amazingly rich shot! Send more of that blue sky our way!

Good job!

Thanks so much again everyone! I am very grateful for the wonderful comments.

david888lee: This is an HDR. I captured and processed it as such to bring out the light values of the foreground while keeping the exposure correct for the sky. Other than that, the sky was just the way you see it in the image. I was truly humbled and amazed by what I saw, and I tried to capture it to the best of my ability. :)
