I've owned a G3 and a Fuji 2300, so I thought I had some idea of what to expect as far as image quality with the A300. The results are uniformly disappointing in terms of clarity / focus.

I think my expectations are about right -- I've read all the reviews of this model, and I've seen the sample images on Image-resource, and other sites. This model just isn't delivering any image quality. Here's one sample:

Big file. I certainly don't expect this unit to match the G3, but there's just no clean definition that I've been used to with other digicams -- even my little 2.1 MP Fuji does better.

The universal review of the A300 indicates great image quality, while the other aspects get panned somewhat. In my case, it's just the opposite. I really like this camera compared to my G3, but if it can't yield decent image quality, it's gotta go...

Suggestions? Should I exchange it and see if the replacement does any better? It's an Amazon.com purchase, if that helps.

If you're not happy with it, and think that it's not performing the way it should, I'd suggest exchanging it or sending it in to Canon Service to have it checked out.
