Shot these at extreme range, 1D, 300/4L, stacked TC's, but the light was nice, just before sunset.

Thanks Trevor, Reyno and Nancy. They were pretty far out and this is a big crop, but I liked how it came out. I can't imagine such young swans flying here from the arctic circle. Amazing feat. :)

Very nice. I'd love to get some shots of Tundra Swans like that. Hard to get close to them.

Thanks Bob and Naturalist. Bob, I couldn't get close. From where I was, I could not even see the third juvie and the other two were just gray dots with the naked eye. I'm seriously amazed at what this old 1D can pull out of thin air. ;)

Thanks Henry. It was one of those magic moments. I can't believe it was 69 degrees at 5pm. At the end of October! :)

Thanks Bob, Steve, Dennis and Downy. These are the first Tundra Swans I have seen. They are also called Whistling Swans. And I didn't even see the two ducks at the top left of the frame till just now.

I've never got a chance to capture any swans...you did a great job to capture their reflections Mitch!

Thanks Ben. And thanks to an absolutely glorious day yesterday, with insanely high October temps and calm winds, it was easy. :)

Mitch, I love this shot. The grass in the BG makes this such an interesting image.

Thanks Ira. If you would like to see the exact spot these were shot at, check out this Google satellite image (http://maps.google.com/maps?ie=UTF8&ll=43.642725,-91.273738&spn=0.002729,0.004935&t=k&z=18&om=1). Right in the middle there is where I shot these from, parked along the Great River Road in Minnesota. :)
