Can anyone help! I had a D60 for 2 years and inspite of the shortcomings was quite happy with the image quality and especially the saturated colours. Purchased a 1D MKII (for the autofocus - I photograph lots of my kids sports - hockey mostly) and needless to say found it to be a substantial improvement in all areas. However, I can't get the pictures to have the same "pop" as my D60. The colours seem dull and flat. I have seem examples of what the camera is capable of - but I don't seem able to get mine to do it. I work with JPEG's not RAW. I have considered Fred Miranda's Digital Velvia but thought I would see if anyone here could help an amateur with a pro camera.
Thanks
Mike

If you post the settings you are using it would be easier to give an answer. My Mark II produces beautiful accurate colors. I shoot Raw and convert to 16 bit tiff Adobe RGB or I shoot 10 Jpeg Adobe RGB. I have the parameters set to zero except sharpening at +3.

Settings are as follows:
Tone curve Standard
Sharpness 2
Contrast -1
Color Matrix Adobe RGB
Saturation Mid to High
Color Tone -1
I used these after seeing them posted on a forum. Hate to say it - but it was a bit of "Monkey see - Monkey do". After your post and then reviewing these settings - could it be that the contrast and color tone settings are not in line with my tastes? I'll experiment with them and see what happens.
I use 7 JPEG, but will change it to 10 and give it a try as well.
Thanks
Mike
