Yesterday I got my first ever shots at my local indoor track that I have been racing at for almost 2 years now (I just got my new camera last month, and the P&S just wouldnt cut it) I know they are nothing reall special, but man was it fun! and HARD!!

All are shot with the XTi and Sigma 70-300 F/4-5.6 APO DG Macro at F4, ISO 800 on some(if so, verry few) but majority had to be at 1600 with shutter speed at 1/320 or 400(again, if so, verry few) all with AI Servo and auto focus point.

Let me know what you think, all CC is encouraged here, I really want to learn!

Your first pic is the best one, I really like it.

Nice job, especially for your first try! Shooting indoors at SoCal has got to be one of the most challenging places for shooting RC.

Thanks for the comments guys, JDB, I know you know what your talkin about! If it werent for your tips you gave me, I would have most likely gotten out of there with nothing but blurrs! A faster focusing lense would be nice, and a lower F stop, but I think next time ill try putting it on manual and focusing in one spot and panning it in like you told me...I tried it a few times yesterday and boy were the results misserable

Nice captures :)

Its so fun using telephoto zoom lenses. I myself need to practice as well. Those RC cars look so awesome.

Pretty nice rc shots! I've got a rc10gt, ntc3, and mini-quake that have been sitting for a long time. No time or space to run them in college life, so I guess I'll have to break them out over winter break.

I like #1 the best as well. I think composition wise you should look at track shots you like for full-size cars and then try to work those angles/positions into your rc shots.

I used to race my RC trucks there back in high school. I've been wanting to stop by there and take some shots. Did anybody question as to why you were there?

No, I used to go there all the time, so nobody cared, they just all wanted me to send them pics of their car

I got about 4-5 people that asked me for their shots.

Thanks gravy,

Nice shots you got, I see you used 20D ISO 3200, your lucky you had such a low apature to work with, and so much ISO
Indoors is so challenging.... But JDB is living proof that it's completly possible at F4...

i used 1600 with the 1.8 that one was with a 17-40 and it really needed that 3200 to work.

I didn't know R/C Cars were still popular! I used to race my RC10 over 15 years ago. Yikes...has it been that long?
