As expected they are to your usual very high standard Gavin. Really like the pop effect (the way the subject pops out at you) that you consistently get. I'm not sure if my knees can take it but the lower view point you use really lifts your images and I'm going to have to give it another go. A little bit wary of sitting though as I prefer to be able to get out of the way of the ball if I need to. I've been smacked by it twice recently.

Thanks for sharing.

Apart from the leg top left of overhead hockey its a perfect collection.. In particular the team pic as its clearly a bright sunny day and you get faces without harsh shadows which is as impressive as the rest of the collection.. :)

Another excellent set. I'll second Steve's comment - the 6400 shot is impressive for the gloom of non league lights.

Thanks for sharing.Cheers Jon! Have to say I do get hit by the ball from time to time, much to the amusement of the fans and players. However, at a lot of the venues (as much as I like to stay low anyway) you have to sit down so as not to obstruct the view of the paying spectators... and my knees wouldn't take the strain of kneeling

Hi Gavin,

#2 is superb. The DoF has given it a real 3 dimensional feel to it. Add in the colours, facial expressions etc. and to my eye this is the pick of the bunch.

The MIII is very impressive at ISO6400. For me though, it's not just the lack of noise - it's the amount of detail and colour saturation that the images have.

Cheers,

Simon.

Gavin,

Great set as always. But I have a question for you...

Do you have any tips for getting good manager shots, like your one in the Hornchurch vs Bath game? That shots looks like it was taken from the opposite corner flag - do you need some serious reach for that?

I only have a 300mm2.8 + 1.4x tele at my disposal (on a 1.6x crop body), but with Neil Warnock coming to town next week it'd be a good opportunity for me to improve. Any tips?

Any tips? Thanks eroded... my only tip for shooting the managers is to position yourself to fill the frame as best possible. Plan your shot in advance within the limitations of the access you have... at the bigger games, sometimes this will involve arriving a couple of hours before kick-off to secure your spot.

The pic in question was shoot at 400mm from behind the goal... it just happened that the bench was quite a bit down the touchline from the halfway line.

Stunning is just average for Gavin! :-) Say, does that girl in blue in the first image have chicken pocks? Nice set of sets! :-)
