Anyone? Starting a poll for the proposed November 3rd date, with a possible meet time of (ughhhh) 7:30 am.

Since 7:30 required my beautiful bride to get up at 3:00 to get ready for the 3 hr drive, I propose a later time of 9:00 or 9:30.

I'm pushing for it, if the weather forcast stays true. 7:30 is very doable for us, would give us some good light for the foliage.
There is also a Lock and Damn across the river and a small faux paddlewheel for tours...if it is still running this late in the season. There is a museum/visitor center of sorts at the lock and damn, too.
We should be able to give you a for sure or not by Thursday evening.

not looking real promising. We're trying to decide based on attendance. We'd have to get up early, take Meg to Grandma's, then finish driving down there. It gets us up at 5:00'ish for possibly just 2-3 people. You understand my position, right?

Becky and I are now upgraded to "probably".
Looks like a small group at this point so plenty of room for spouses & families.
To add to the fun, I can bring a bit of gear for practicing outdoor portraits. I'll have a lightstand, umbrella, a couple flash units and my meter, maybe a reflector. This stuff is pretty light and I can haul it wherever we hike. Anyone who wants can use it. We can do some experimenting and learning about light. Should make things more interesting than shooting trees and rocks all day (not that there's anything wrong with that). ;)

I'm more in the Yes category now. Stacey isn't up for hiking in the cold to photograph trees; "a tree is a tree." What time are we meeting? I can make it after 8:00, preferably 9:00am

I do believe we have gone from probably to YES, YES, YES unless there is some unforseen emergency. Please let us know what time. I think we are 1 - 1-1/2 hours away. Looking forward to seeing any who can make it and to shoot, my shutter finger has been itching. :-)

i wanted to go but i let a friend borrow my gear for a wedding. :(Becky and I could bring the 300D for you to use, we may even be able to scrounge a lens or two. I also have a few CF cards I never use and would be happy to let you borrow.

I can't bring the 300d, as it's barely good enough for my wife to use, let alone someone who understands manual mode. I will however, have a wide assortment of lenses. I'm borrowing an 85mm 1.8, and may have that on most of the day.

Hello....
Uhm, can semi new members join in? I've been lurking on this site for probably a year now, but I don't think I've ever popsted anything- to busy reading and picking up tips.
Love Starved rock, going thru the canyons etc. So, if you don't mind a new guy tagging along, just let me know the time and the area to meet and I'll be there!!

I'd like to be there by 7:30 or 8 just because there might be some fog or mist that would be pleasant to photograph. I would say get there when you can but we'll cut the deadline til 9:15 or so before we push off deep on the trails. Make any sense?

Sounds good, we don't have to wander too far and still make it back to rendevous with Hawk.

Hey Dannosix, Ed called down earlier this week and they expect to still have plenty of color. We are north west of Chicago and still have some pretty full trees with color.
