Red-Tailed hawk

Now that the tater rush is over, I took a drive at dinner time hoping to get a chance at a hawk. Seen 4 eagles too far for shots, and the second red-tailed I found decided to pose for one shot. Unfortunatley it was on a power pole, but beggers cant be chosers. Overcast but harsh lighting.

Body, head & tail still look pretty sharp in #2, so I LIKE the wing blur, to convey the motion and power of this bird.

Know what you mean Trevor. The hawk around here seem to have a penchant for highway light poles. Not very glamorous. Still nice shot. And i just commented on another thread about wing blur as the bird takes off. You gotta have shutter speed to burn to stop that without blur. Glad to see you're enjoying that new lens.

Nice shots Trevor. Hawks seem to be rare here this summer. Seen just a few high up, heading south though. :)

Hawks are a challenge to me -- I always see them at the wrong time! But check out my thread from a few hours ago -- I actually grabbed a few in my shooting!
