Looks much too dark overall. I will bet that the histogram has almost nothing higher than value 200 (in the range of 0 - 255).

OK - not quite that bad. There are values up to 230, but darn few of those.

Enable edit and re-post, and we can show you what it should look like.

Great potential IMHO, but it's a little dark and could use a little saturation. A little post processing could do a lot for this shot.

i tried my hand at editing this one but have been informed that I need your permission, sorry about that.
I can try again if you would like me to.

have a great weekend!

thought I'd try my hand at this one. I'm no pro but have enough knowledge to be dangerous with PS.

1. curves
2. saturation bump up
3. unsharp mask

hope that is helpful, have a great weekend!

Dear wetclay,
Please be advised that the sticky at the head of this forum provides the rules for posting. One of those rules is that you may not edit and post another members images without his OK. That permission can be provided through enabling of the Image Editing flag in the user's CP.

However, I cannot find where in the UserCP that flag is found, so if anyone can give more specific directions on how to set it, please post them here.

The Image Editor is under Edit Profile;)
Thanks, Flo!

So,
The procedure to allow others to edit & re-post your image(s) is as follows:
Click on UserCP!
Then, under Control Panel, "Settings & Options", click on "Edit Profile"!
In the 3rd window of that page, titled "Additional Information", you will find a small frame titled "Image edit and repost permission".
Select "Yes".

That's funny!
Can't win them all.
I lived in Wiesbaden/Auringen for two years (1986 and1987). Wish I were back there - it was wonderful, and I miss it terribly. Enjoy yourself!

dave,

Robert is telling you in his roundabout sarcastic way that lalitha has not approved the editing and reposting of her images on this board and that it is part of the rules of this board to not do that.

I would appreciate it if people would just say what they mean without being sarcastic...it generally isn't funny and makes people feel worse for making an honest mistake. Yes, Dave and I made a mistake but you know that this type of communication doesn't foster the best of an environment for constructive , helpful growth. We were just trying to help.

One question for Robert and Tim. Did someone ask to have German used in this thread or do you know these people can't speak english? I for one would also appreciate you keeping your German to yourselves or at least keep what seems to be a private joke at the expense of Dave and I in a private pm to each other.

sorry for hijacking this thread somewhat, but there seems to be an arrogance around here that is disheartening. And if the purpose is to push newbies away you may just get your wish.

There's no private joke, only a misunderstanding. It' my fault for asking about Robert's avatar. Apologies to anyone that took offense.

So, everybody just lighten up and have a nice day!

that figures. "lighten up" is always a good response instead of an apology but don't waste your time. I don't need or want one.

LOL  Now THAT is sardonic!

Oh, and Wetcaly - welcome to the board! (FYI - even though this is mostly English, in my 4+ years here I have seen non-English creep up from time to time. It is accepted. After all this IS Finland!)

And lalitha, one quick fix that might help, (assuming some sort of Photoshop) duplicate the layer and set the blend mode to soft light. That should go a long way to making your shot look better.

Must be one of my slower days what am I missing? I did read the post but clearly missed something.

There was an exchange between Robert and Weclay regarding the fact that the OP has NOT given permission to edit and repost his/her photo. This exchange was prompted by the fact that Wetclay did in fact, repost the original shot. When he was made aware that there is no permission to do so, he did the right thing and remove his edited post.

Robert is theorizing that you would have been clever enough to NOT do the same thing that Wetclay did, had you read the thread.

Thanks for the welcome Rad. I appreciate it. I do understand and don't have any problem with the use of other languages on the board. My comment was directed at a use of another language for a purpose other than commenting on the orginal post. Both posters are more than capable of english posting and since that is what the original post was written in I would only expect that responses would be in English unless someone was having difficulty expressing him/herself in a second or third language. This was obviously not the case.

thanks again and have a great day!

had a bit of a play in PS however the shot looks out of focus to me.

That was my first reaction on seeing the image posted by the OP; I was expecting to see the flower in focus. Hence PP seemed pointless to me at least.
