Hey Curby,
It looks like you and I are the only ones here! Of course with Pekka looking on. I just came back to practice writing in here. The first time, I didn't change the subject,I left out your name at the beginning, and I forgot to sign. We'll see how it goes this time. I wonder when Pekka will open this up...Pekka, are you there? Talk to you later.

I'd like to make sure that the boards (topics) are good ones before getting more people in. I'd like to have here
a) Canon camera forums (needs D30 area, does it need other models, too, or just "other"?)
b) photography tip forums, hardware and technique discussion.
But no news, general chat (dpreview takes care of those really well). Problem with dpreview is that the messages are hard to find, and there's one big chunk of messages for G1 and no permanent storage.
(I have to make the post editor font smaller...)

Pekka,
I think you need to carefully sprinkle the address around a bit. I did tell Nahau & Sharon, but so far they are the only ones. They are the two I feel the most comfortable with.
If the address somehow hits a post at dpreview it will spread like wildfire (unfortunately to the other forums as well) The Login/Password is a must as well as logging IP addresses. Most will behave some will not.
An addition of a D30 section is a must. I have been following the D30 as you know, but some sources say there will be another model in 6 or seven months from now. Wow it would be great to have the SLR crowd here.
There really should be one off topic/hello how are you/what did you do this weekend type section. A free talk section would almost be therapeutic in a way for some Hmmm...for me that is ;-)). (Just a thought).
Thats all, plenty more feedback to come rest assured.

I agree with Curby that more people should probably be invited here. How about Travis, Bryan, Kevin, LK, and some others (I can't think of right now). These guys have been at Dp for awhile and would probably have good input as you try to set this up.
On issues of topics, I notice there are many posts related to hardware failures in general. Not only related to zoombrowser, but also to usb connections, twain interface, computer crashing, etc. I am not sure if you intended the "software" category to handle these type questions, but maybe a separate computer problem section might help.
You could always integrate similar sections at a later time depending on the number of posts...I guess you could also leave it as is and then decide whether you need a separate computer section. Anyway, just a suggestion based on what I see at dp.
Other than that, I can't think of anything else at the moment.

Hi Pekka,
Just thought about this...
When "previewing", there is no "edit" button as seen on dp. It may be helpful to either explain the buttons or explain that you need to press the "back" button to get out of "preview". BTW, I tried the reset button while in "preview" and nothing happened.(??)
Is something supposed to happen with that button?

Well, upon Curby's inviation, I am here! :)
I haven't been on the DP Review forum much lately, simply because it was getting too tedious for me to search through all the messages - especially when things were getting to look a little ugly around there. I was spending most of my free time taking pictures and printing them on my new Epson 1280.
At any rate, this forum is a great idea and I'm happy to be here. Pekka, when you feel the need for some moderators, let me know because I would be interested. I know how to keep my cool and I spend time online every day.
I need to upload some of my recent photos as I have finally been able to spend some time outdoors and in some interesting places indoors as well...
Thanks everyone!

Pekka, I forgot to mention that if you are looking for a reference quality forum to emulate, I would suggest taking a peak at the Home Theater Forum at:
http://www.hometheaterforum.com
It has been running quite a few and has really evolved into a superior forum. The DVD Software Forum is where I hang out the most, and is probably the place with the most traffic.
Take care,
Travis

Is he a famous member?
I thought that was your archeological cover name; maybe I should have said Indiana Jones instead. ;)
