Hey everyone.I am poor student who adores photography. I have a Canon XTi and a very few lenses. I am a student so I can't afford the highest quality gear and I can't afford to buy myself the gear that I would really need to excell and photography. THis all means that Xmass is a great time of year for me because I get to ask for things that I can't practically buy for myself. I was hoping that some more experienced amateur photogs would give me some advice on what i should ask for. My parents generally cap the gift price at $200 which is not much but it is more than I can afford otherwise.
Some of my ideas are:


a new bag
a monopod
a small, inexpensive used lens.
a gray card

any other suggestion of stuff i really can't live without?

Gift cards from B&H are wonderful presents for the photographer. And the one from Aunt Maude can be combined with the one from Mom and Dad, as well as the one from Uncle Fred...might be able to get an even nicer treat for yourself in that fashion.

You could get the Grip...memory cards, UV filters, light box, rechargable batteries, remote, a flash, extension tubes......just some things I could think of off the top of my head. Hey its stuff you can use or things that could open other photography doors....depending on what you like to shoot.

Send me a PM with your address and I can send you a Gray card. I am also poor but bought a couple from a old canon guy (80+ yo) and gota great price and can al least send you the extra. Thats about all I have in extra equip.

OMG - totally agree here! Ask for one every year - and how weird is it that I, too, have an Uncle Fred?!!! LOL. :lol:
