A little more protection

Guys, I'm trying to find some sort of rain bonnet for my gear backpack. My old Lowepro had an integrated one that you could pull out. My Tamrac doesn't have one. I'm sure the bag is somewhat waterproof but for my piece of mind, I'd like a little more protection. Anyone got any ideas? Something with some elastic and large enough that I could just snap it over the vast majority of the bag would be great. Incidentally, I have a Tamrac Expedition 7 or model #5577.

Good question! That's why I have a lowepro bag. :D

I wonder what would work though. Maybe something homemade? Like wrap or something? Not sure how the design could be.

A pull-tie garbage bag? Cheap, folds up very small and is disposable :)

One thing I thought of after posting was these XL ziplock bags. They come in a couple different sizes and usually about $3 bucks for 2 or 3 of them. You could actully cut a slit for your shoulder straps and seal it right up.

Any camping/hiking store like REI or EMS, or whatever, should have pack covers that are designed for this purpose for ~$10.

+1 for REI or outdoor store. Take your bag in and find the right size.

REI is the place to go!! They had exactly what I was looking for. Of coarse, here in Alaska it was $20!! Oh well, money well spent. Thanks for all the input.

Yeah, REI can be pricey, but it is a great store with EXCELLENT customer service, and pretty much everything. My dad had a tent that he didn't like and they took it back even after 1 or 2 years of use, with pretty much no questions asked.
