As a whole I'm not that excited with how these shots came out. There seems to be too much noise in a lot of these for what ISO I was at. Some are from my 50 some from my 17-85. I think my focus points were off a bit all day though. The guys on Rennlist seemed to like them so I guess thats good. Any comments would be great, thanks.

The composition of these shots is great, and so is sharpness, but there is way too much contrast for my liking. That might also explain the noise too.

I get that a lot about the contrast but there is VERY little PP done here. I actually tend to like shots with more contrast and saturated colors too so it works out for me.

There seems to be too much noise in a lot of these for what ISO I was at. Maybe 'cause you have the contrast cranked way up? It works for me in #3, but not the rest.
IMAGE POSTING RULES (http://photography-on-the.net/forum/showthread.php?t=74718) only allow 8 embedded pics by the OP per thread & they have to be no bigger than 800px, so I removed the IMG tags from the last ones. You can always just post a link to them, though.

ahh sorry about that. But about that whole contrast business...what am I doing wrong? There isn't really any other PP in these shots other then a little sharpening.

haha holy crap...you live in the buildings behind me? The green ones? Thats ridiculously random haha.

Dunno if you want my opinion, but I'll chuck it anyway. By turning up the contrast you are reducing the range of tones in your image (I believe). By doing this you then end up losing alot of shadow/highlight detail as the tones just below white become absolute white and just above black become absolute black. Also, as you increase contrast, the difference in brightness between the noise and the image becomes larger, emphasising it more. If you shot RAW maybe if you turn down the contrast and maybe up the saturation you'll be alot more pleased with them.

So shooting RAW would be the only way to get less contrast in my pictures? I only have one 2gb card though :(

You could lower contrast in the menu of your camera too. Also, shooting in softer light reduces contrast. 2gigs is enough for over 200 or so RAWS :p surely that is enough?

Well, just checked the camera and the contrast was set way high. My friend who borrowed it must have changed it. That is probably the issue, thanks!
